Thank you for your inquiry about our group. We are a dedicated group of social, military, and labor history “nuts” recreating an important piece of American History that is not discussed often in US History text books. We belong to a reenacting era that is not represented on a large scale like the Civil War or World War Two reenactments are.

You don’t have to be from West Virginia or a real coal miner to join (most of us aren’t), we want you to add to the unit not only by your presence, but also for your historical interpretation.

Keep in mind like any hobby it cost money. The “basic” cost will be around $400-$500. As you get more involved in building a correct impression you might go well over that amount. But since building an impression takes time your expenses can be spread out and therefore easier to bear.

Basic equipment required:
Sack Coat or proper work coat of the era
A Cap
Proper Shoes
Red Neckerchief
Period Firearms are not required, but are encouraged as time goes on.

Please view our Suppliers Page for suggestions on were to find items.

Our membership area is currently based in Wisconsin with others potentially forming in other areas of the United States. We are mostly focused on living history aspects of the hobby, since there isn’t a large enough member base to do “battles.”

As of now we do not have a membership fee or probation period for new members. We do have some rules that must be followed in order to remain a member of the organization. They can be found here.
